Cosmos. Sara García Alonso's trip: from the Laboratory to Space
Dear partner,
Open your belt because we are about to take off with a very special number in which we will explore the limits of science. We started this number 21 of Fissac Magazine with a stellar interview with Dr. Sara García Alonso , a researcher in one of the most important research centers worldwide, CNIO, and first Spanish astronaut in history. In the interview, Sara moves us from her beginnings in research in molecular biology, where she has worked with Mariano Barbacid in therapies focused on lung cancer, until her current function as an astronaut in the European Space Agency. In addition, this interview will also be able to listen to it in a new narrative podcast format.
Our scientific journey continues with articles that address topics of great news and relevance. Juan Luis Sánchez Sánchez enters us in the world of epigenetic watches. His article leads us to discover how our biological age - the one that our DNA says and that changes depending on epigenetic changes - can reveal more about our health and quality of life than the simple passage of time (that is, that our age chronological). Félix Morales Palomo leads us to a new approach to physical exercise, showing us how to align our training with circadian rhythms can help us optimize the beneficial adaptations of exercise. Alfonso Moreno Cabañas guides us for the most recent evidence to respond to whether type 2 diabetes can really be reversed or if it is just a mirage on the horizon of scientific research.
Finally, our usual signatures: Pedro presents the benefits of heat application for vascular and metabolic health. Meanwhile, Adri ... Finally, Javi transports us to the future, reminding us that, in an increasingly sedentary world, investing in the muscle strength of the youngest is like building the foundations of a healthier tomorrow.
We trust that this new number inspires you and allows you to learn as much as we prepare and edit it. As always, we appreciate your continuous support to make FISSAC a space for learning and constant discovery.
This project is possible thanks to the commitment of each of its partners.
