Dear reader,

Welcome to discovering the limits of the human being , the number 16 of Fissac Magazine. On this occasion we cross the puddle and chat with one of the greatest experts in human performance, the prestigious physiologist of the exercise Michael Joyner, who works at the Mayo Clinic. For those who do not know him, he is known - in addition to his immense knowledge about the physiology of the exercise and in particular of the resistance sports - for having predicted more than 30 years ago that the human being could run a marathon below the 2 hours.

In addition, it participates in this number Esther García Domínguez , a researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia, who tells us about the mechanisms that allow the muscle to regenerate after muscle damage, a work that has been published in Science , the best magazine scientific world. We also have Dr. Juan Luis Sánchez Sánchez , a researcher at the Move-IT Group of the University of Cádiz, who shows us how the combination of physical and cognitive training could be an effective strategy to fight against the deterioration associated with age. For his part, Dr. Sebastian Sitcho , a researcher at the University of Zaragoza and cyclist coach, analyzes the possibilities offered by the potentiometer for the analysis and improvement of performance in cycling.

For our part, Adri tells us about lactate, a metabolic product that recent research suggests that it can have a transcendental role in improving the antitumor function. Pedro puts the focus on a subject of special public relevance, such as the negative effects of being seated for a long time, as well as the benefits that may even have minimum doses of physical activity. Finally, following the controversial case of a 6 -year -old boy who has recently completed a marathon, Javi reflects on the possibility that the youngest participate in this type of long distance races. Is it sure that a child runs a marathon?

As always, thank you very much for reading us and for continuing to make Fissac a place of learning and continuous teachings.
