May the force accompany you
A conversation with Professor Mikel Izquierdo
Dear Readers:
Welcome to the force accompany you , FISSAC Magazine number. In this number we fulfill an old yearning: chat with the professor Mikel Izquierdo , one of the most influential researchers internationally in the area of physical exercise and health. Who knows minimally Dr. Izquierdo knows that the conversation will not leave him indifferent.
In addition, following our idea of making young researchers known that they have been stomping, we are lucky to have 3 representatives of that new litter of scientists who will surely be reference in their respective fields. On this occasion we have Miguel López Moreno , dietitian-nutritionist of Nutreconcia, who puts on the table a topic of great news such as the consumption of diets of plant origin and their impact on our health and that of the environment. We also bring an article by Dr. Félix Morales Palomo , from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, in which he shows us the fundamental role of physical exercise in the treatment of metabolic syndrome. For its part, Paloma Solá , a researcher in the Metabolism and Aging Unit of the IRB (Institut de Recerca Biomèdica) in Barcelona, explains how through the regulation of our circadian clock we could slow down the deterioration associated with the aging of our cells and organs .
For our part, Adri tells us why physical activity is associated with greater longevity. Pedro puts on the table the importance of a factor that we rarely consider in the field of sports performance and that can play a key role in the success or failure of athletes: durability. Finally, Javi tells us about the adaptations that allow children to gain strength and muscle mass with strength training even before experiencing their hormonal explosion.
As always, thank you very much for reading us and for continuing to make Fissac a place of learning and continuous teachings.
