Why do we get tired? This question may seem very simple for someone outside the investigation, but devilishly difficult to answer for those who study the science of sports. In fact, we are still discussing different theories that could explain it, although none ends up doing so successfully. Answering this question is vital when being able to implement training plans that really improve performance. In this article, we are going to review the main theories about the appearance of fatigue and we will see how these can be compatible and complement each other; ending with an integrating approach from the paradigm of the science of complexity.
