The Calerie study analyzes the effects of long -term caloric restriction on cardiomethabolic markers in people without obesity. 143 subjects reduced ~ 300 kcal their caloric intake (11.9%) for 2 years, while 75 maintained their usual diet. People who reduced their intake lost 7.5 kg of weight, mostly fat (5.3 kg). In addition, they improved significantly cardiometabolic risk markers such as the index of metabolic syndrome, blood pressure, cholesterol and insulin sensitivity.
